The Razor's Edge
Nady's Barely-Fair Homer Wins 1-0 Game
Jeff Hanisch/US PRESSWIRE
If it hadn't been for Xavier Nady's seventh-inning drive hitting the left-field foul pole, the Cubs and Brewers might still be playing. Thankfully, Nady homered on Randy Wolf's 0-1 pitch, and that was all the Cubs needed. Ryan Dempster continued his winning ways against the Brewers, striking out eight to go 15-2 in his career vs. the Brew Crew. The win was the goateed Canadian's 100th career victory. Carlos Marmol nailed down his 30th save, and... well, what else can we say about a 1-0 game?

Sticking Around
Ramirez Noncommittal About Returning Next Year
Given the relatively unimpressive season Aramis Ramirez has had, you think it'd be a given he'd return next year — especially since the Cubs owe him $14.6 million. But he swears he's not sure about it: "I haven't talked to my agent about it," he said. "They've got a lot of other things they have to address... We'll see." We're guessing the Cubs wouldn't exactly be crying if he bailed on that money & mdash; then again, who would play third? Blake DeWitt? Hmmm.

The Leader of the Pack
Time for Cubs to Get a Dominating General?
Remember Felix Pie? We'd heard about him for years, and he was supposed to be a stud when he reached the majors. And then... no. Well, he's undergone somewhat of a renaissance in Baltimore, and some of that is due to the relentless criticism of Orioles' leader, DH Luke Scott. Cubbie Doctor Examiner says the North Siders need a vocal leader to get the rest of the team to step up. "Part of the problem... was no one would stand up to him and talk to him as Luke Scott did in Baltimore," the blog says.

Cubs: More Statues Coming to Friendly Confines
We've been thinking about the Cubs moving the Harry Caray statue, and we like what it says about the team's emphasis on the actual game rather than the, you know, party. But more statues? Cubs' president Crane Kenney says yes, more are on the way: "You are seeing the beginning," Kenney said. "The statues are popular with our fans.... I think it's fair to say we will probably continue." Chi City Sports says the team needs to focus more on the team's play, rather than homages to the past.

Marlon Byrd tagged his 156th hit yesterday, setting his career high... Dempster is only the fourth Canadian pitcher to reach 100 major-league wins... Want a chuckle? Check out this improvised skit of a married couple after they went to a Cubs game.
