Privacy Policy
We may joke about a lot of stuff (OK, pretty much everything), but we take your privacy very seriously. The policy below describes how we treat the information we collect when you visit our website and/or register for Fan Report. Please read this notice carefully.
Personal Information
In order to send you our emails, we need your email address. We also request a zip code at signup so we can learn where our fans are located. Fan Report doesn’t collect any other personal information that you do not expressly provide. Fan Report will never rent, share, or sell your personal information to a third-party without your expressed consent.
Email newsletters are delivered to you by MailChimp, our email marketing provider. Under no circumstances will MailChimp make any personal information about an individual user available to anyone. View MailChimp’s privacy policy here.
Non-personal Information
In order to make our site and newsletter better, we may also request other non-personally identifiable demographic information, such as age or household income. This informational is optional, but we request it so that we can improve our website and content. We may also share this information with others, such as Fan Report advertisers, but only in aggregate, anonymous form. No third party will receive information from us that personally identifies you or anyone else in any way.
Usage Information
Fan Report may also gather information about how our website and email newsletters are used. This information is not personally identifiable and will be used only to find out how subscribers use our service and site. Examples include information about how much time users spend on our site, from which sites users came, and which newsletter links subscribers clicked on the most. The collection of this information also allows us to handle traffic load demands on the website.
Public Information
Any information you disclose voluntarily on our comments pages or in any forums we may develop in the future becomes public information. We cannot control the actions of our site users and advise you to use discretion in sharing information about yourself on the internet.
Review and Access
Upon your request, we will provide you with a summary of the information we collect about you. You will have an opportunity to correct, update, or modify the information.
How to Unsubscribe
You can opt to unsubscribe from receiving Fan Report emails at any time. You can unsubscribe by clicking the “Unsubscribe” or “One-Click Unsubscribe” links toward the bottom of any Fan Report email. You can also unsubscribe by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of the Fan Report homepage and following the instructions.
Sweepstakes, Contests, and Giveaways
Periodically, Fan Report may offer users an opportunity to participate in sweepstakes, contests, and giveaways. Participation in these promotions is voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose any information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and email) and creative answers to impress contest judges. Fan Report reserves the right to publish all information submitted for the contests and giveaways.
Third-Party Advertising
Occasionally, you’ll receive an email from us with “Break in the Action” in the subject line. These emails are not necessarily reflective of the opinions of our editorial staff. They are content paid for by our sponsors and they help allow us to offer Fan Report to subscribers for free. You can unsubscribe from “Break in the Action” emails. However, if you do so, you will no longer receive Fan Report emails either. We limit the number of sponsor emails we send out each month, and we’re selective about choosing partners that are relevant to our readers.
Links to Other Sites
One of the main features of the Fan Report is the links we provide that guide you to interesting information on other websites. Fan Report is not responsible for the content that appears on these third-party sites and does not endorse these sites. For questions concerning these sites, please consult their individual privacy policies.
Children’s Privacy
Fan Report does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If Fan Report learns it has personal information of a child under the age of 13, it will delete that information from its systems. For tips on protecting children’s privacy online, please visit the FTC site.
Modifications
Fan Report may make changes to this policy in the future so we encourage you to check back often to ensure you are familiar with the most recent version of our Privacy Policy.
Legal Disclaimer
The only exceptions to the foregoing are that Fan Report may disclose personally identifiable information (a) in response to legal process, for example, in response to court order or subpoena; (b) in response to a law enforcement agency’s request, or where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take actions regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of another person, violations of our Terms and Conditions, or as otherwise required by law; or (c) in the event we are acquired by or merged with another company.
